Founded in 1988 by Michal Aviad and Kevin White, Filmmakers Collaborative, SF is a non-profit 501c3 organization comprised of award-winning media professionals. Our mission is to produce innovative films and public information campaigns that foster education, awareness, and civic participation to help create a more sustainable, peaceful and just world.

We believe that thoughtful films can make a difference in determining how the public understands issues and frames debate. By weaving together strong stories with striking images, compelling testimony, and well-articulated ideas, viewers can become moved and inspired. Combine this with strategic distribution and outreach materials that leverage both traditional broadcast and digital channels, and the result can be a compelling public information initiative that engages audiences, generates media coverage, increases public awareness, and ultimately facilitates informed decision-making.

Our programs have been broadcast on PBS, Channel 4 (UK), ABC/Disney, ZDF, Chronicle Broadcasting, Australian Broadcasting, Canadian Broadcasting, and many others. Our films have also been shown in schools, theaters, and film/video festivals nationally and internationally, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, the San Francisco International Film Festival, The National Educational Film & Video Festival, The American Film Festival, INPUT, Telluride Film Festival, Hazel Wolf Environmental Film Festival, Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and many others. Our films have received multiple CINE Golden Eagle awards, Telly awards, Chris Awards, Golden Gate Awards, Golden Apple Awards, and many others. Many of these films were also produced with a corresponding educational curriculum, web site, and outreach initiative to facilitate impact.
